Most important dimensions of personality functioning should come to be encoded in all languages. Extraction of common factors should yield a finite number of important personality dimensions. These dimesntions are the necessary and sufficient building blocks for personality big 5. Neuroticism (emotional stability) otherwise others are stable over time, do not change too much: test items. I prefer a quiet night at home. Others would describe me as a calm person: biological basis. People differ depending on how responsive they are to environment: optimal level of arousal. People who are introverted have a lightly tuned reticular activation system. Optimal range of arousal above and below which we are comfortable. Extroverted people tend to seek more stimulation.
