Delinquency is the consequence of weak bonds to the social order. Free to be delinquent and deviant if the social bonds are broken. What are the blocks and ties that prevent us from engaging in deviance. These are the ways through which social bonds function. We refrain from crime because we don"t want to hurt or embarrass the people you love. We don"t want to reflect badly on them, don"t want them to feel badly about themselves because of you. If you care what your family/partner and important people in your life think about you, then you have affective attachment. The degree to which you pursue conventional goals. Risks all the time, energy that you have invested into this goal. The more committed you are, the more you have to lose, and the less likely you are to be deviant. The more ambitious you are, the more committed you are, the more you have to lose.
