Most people with atypical sexual interests do not have a mental disorder. 8 paraphilias part of dsm-v except pedophilia come back to it. To be diagnosed with a paraphilic disorder, dsm-v requires that people with these interests: Have a sexual desire or behaviour that involves another person"s psychological distress, injury, or death. Over a period of at least six months, recurrent and intense sexual arousal - eliminates those who just have a fleeting interest but cause no harm. Most acts do not come into contact with the authorities because: With a few exceptions, most of these are private acts that take place at home may only come to attention when there is a victim or a personal distress. For some of the acts that do have a victim (exhibitionism) behavior happen so quickly that it would be difficult for the victim to describe offender.
