Plan 103 lecture 4 january 29th, 2016. Policy planning in practice: local level implementation: hierarchy of plans in ontario. Planning is directed and required by the province and mostly implemented at the local level. Rules and regulations of how, who and where etc. Province issues and policy statement under the planning act. Other provincial plan may also be implemented locally (e. g. growth plan, greenbelt plan) Ontario has different levels and types of municipalities. Regional municipalities (e. g. region of waterloo, city of kitchener, township of woolwich) Different types of municipalities have different roles and responsibilities related to planning. What this means for a planner: local examples. Local plans must conform to upper level plans. Upper-tier municipality (e. g. region of waterloo) must approve official plan and local municipality (e. g. Upper-tier municipality (e. g. region of waterloo) must approve official plan and local municipality (e. g. city of waterloo) Single-tier municipalities do both roles (high level and local planning)
