Regions and power blocs: what is regionalism anyway, real-world regionalisms, is regionalism sustainable, regionalism in 2018. There is not set definition, it is kind of a generalized set of phenomena that includes several things. Broadly speaking, when we think of regionalism we think about: The regional organizations we are going to talk about today share some common properties: Sometimes they are complementary (they harmonize different ways of doing politics) or and sometimes they are contradictory (sometimes people want to get out of organizations brexit, us and nato ) Our global stage is now multilayered, but at the same time there has been a fragmentation phenomenon taking place, which is also promoting regionalized integration. This makes the world the most complicated it has ever being: regions have been around together : empires (roman, british ), christendom, Orient one interesting thing about regionalism is that it is not new. Thinking of world politics in terms of regions, it has been around forever.
