Some of earliest work in psychology based on small or even single subject designs: examples, goal is to show that a phenomenon occurs reliably for each participant not for the average participant, piaget influenced this. He developed his model based on observing his own three kids. Tells you the true story about how a person is going to respond in a situation. But, if you are always taking group averages, you may not be accurately gathering info on what an individual person would really do.
