Membership of a group can deine who we are: personal idenity and internalizaion. Based on our unique personal characterisics (eg. interests, personality) We can see ourselves as beter people based on achievements: social idenity and ideniicaion. Based on our percepion that we belong to various social groups (eg. work group, culture) Posiive group performance can lead to a beter social idenity (ailiaions) You can belong to one group over another this is where social comparison colours our social idenity.
