Independent variable: causation : how 2 or more variables are related. What causes the mood to go down: correlation : class environment and mood might go down. Eg - mood going down coz of the people around you in class instead of the class itself: longitudinal and cross sectional designs of research, experimental design : it has the strictest process and precision. Eg - student in the front get more grades than the ones sitting behind the class. Independent variable - groups of those sitting in front vs sitting in the back: dependent variables - the final grade, control group - a baseline group. The null hypothesis says that there is no difference between the research and control group.
