Securely attached toddlers (70%) use mom as (cid:498)secure base(cid:499) to explore to stranger depends on mom"s presence (less frightened with her) Insecure, avoidant (20%) ignore and avoid mom, no distress with absence, Insecure, resistant (ambivalent) (10%) clingy and don"t explore, intensely (goes in for hug but leans back at the same time like classic gf/bf fight), fears and. No interest on return, not distressed by stranger (like cat or friend that goes off with random guys at the club) upset with absence, seeks comfort/contact when parent comes back but rebuffs it avoids stranger.
