PSYCH339 Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: Regression Analysis, Decision-Making
Document Summary
Step 6: hire the new people attract people to apply. This is where selection ratio comes in. You want more people to apply than number of employees needed. If the selection ratio is 0. 04 then you would hire the first person: as selection ratio gets higher, the more people you have to hire. Can do any amount of hurdles, mitigate costs. Compensatory: high scores on one predictor can compensate for low scores on another. If using compensatory model, they are all equal ability. Multiple cut off: you can"t be low 5 on motivation, then adam will get cut off, or if you can"t be below 5 on ability, then bob will be cut off. If you can"t be below 5 on either of them, then charlie will be hired. Mechanical combination: unit weighting, multiple regression, other weighting schemes. Assessor uses his/her judgment in deciding how to combine information. May or may not apply rules consistently to applicants.
