John does not contain the bread and wine at the last supper, but relates the incident of the foot washing: nature of the gospels: Interested in telling a story that really happened but not like modern historians. Telling the story of jesus; a story of salvation taking place in what was considered to be real history of god"s dealings with a historical community.
