It is a detriment when the historical consciousness connects a happy and healthy family to that of a heteronormative patriarchal nuclear family. White, white picket fenced suburban home, often has a dog for good measure. Christian doctrine man and women marry for the creation of children. Women were enrolled in home economics, and men learned woodwork.
