Lecture 4 physiology of sexual response: the sexual response cycle. Four stages of sexual response (masters and johnson): excitement. For both men and women, heart rate goes up. Towards the later part of the excitement the breast swell. Uterus and cervix pull up (tenting effect) Fluid at the tip of the penis. Blood pressure and heart rate rise in both men and women. In men there are two stages: ejaculatory inevitability. Vas deference, vesicles and prostate contract (orgasm is biologically going to happen) Force bulb at base of urethra (emission: urethral bulb + penis contract (propulsion propels the ejaculation) Retrograde ejaculation: sometimes a male can ejaculate into his bladder causing a dry orgasm and is not harmful. A man who hasn"t ejaculated in a while will have larger quantity.
