Fascism believes that human nature is irrational and emotional which is why they
need to be controlled. It promotes singular and collective identity (meaning one nation,
on state) that requires a strong authoritarian leader who focuses on building a strong
nation. This ideology does not allow for multiculturalism, plurality, and immigration
since they embrace inequality, want to maintain traditions, limit social change, and is
rooted in fanatical nationalism. It also believes in the importance of war when it comes to
building and keeping national spirit, as well as building a sense of community and pride.
Their economic strategy is Autarky and Corporativism, which rejects laisserfaire
economics and capitalism and instead, place some state control in businesses in order to
regulate the economy and keep fixed prices without having to trade with other countries.
A fascist society is based on the Leadership Principle (Fuehrerprinzip), which
means that the leader’s authority is absolute and never wrong. This society also runs on
racism and Social Darwinism because it uses policies and science to justify that one race
is more superior and has the right to rule over others.
Mussolini first started off as a socialist and served for the military but eventually,
he came to see Socialism as a failure because he took issues with equality and believed
that war could have benefits. He managed to change Italy from a socialist state to a
fascist one by becoming Prime Minister,
