Crim code section 163: corruption of morals subsection 8 says how we define something to be an obscene publication: sexual exploitation, sex, crime, horror, cruelty and violence. For the purpose of this offense, motives are absolutely irrelevant. The prevailing norms define obscenity it doesn"t say what criteria to use to determine this. Obscene in the dictionary: based on accepted standards it is offensive to morality and decency subjective standards (cultural statistical and religious standards)
