Document Summary

The catholic church was the most powerful in europe, it renewed the connection between health care and religion. In medieval europe the catholic church was the spiritual leader and it said health wasn"t affected by physical things it doesn"t matter but what matters is sin, if you sin you displease god and fall sick as a punishment. The church wasn"t about taking medicine but to get healthy you had to pray to get better, good person, get healthy. Your soul was hurt by sin and you got sick prayer wasn"t the only thing. There were also some places, monasteries, where monks maintained a herbal garden and continued herbal medicine tradition. In the middle ages medicine was reduced to male medicine, which was born on the battlefield, consisting of, bandaging wounds and pray that they live. All which meant that health care had very little to offer the common people.
