Retouched flake and core stone tools typical of h. erectus. Gran dolina fossils - h. erectus or h. antecessor?, but no! It was debated between 2 species so they called it a new one - homo antecessor. Increased brain size (within range of h. sapiens) Spelunkers discovered a pit where there was a lot of different fossils. Has traits from australopithecus, h. habilis, and h. erectus. Possibly 15 individuals (the fewest number of people who could be there) They put together a partial skeleton with pieces that could possibly not belong together - Inner ear is preserved - rare it"s anyone"s guess. The hand was fully together -also foot. Foot reflected well adapted bipedalism, but hand is primitive. Four skulls recovered - 2 male 2 female. Temporal and occipital bossing (mound on your skull) But most below the cranium does not match. Long and low braincase vs. high and round braincase.
