We learn in the first few chapters of the manga that these innocent, cute, and defensive girls are subject to (cid:858)(cid:272)o(cid:374)ditio(cid:374)i(cid:374)g(cid:859) i(cid:374) (cid:449)hi(cid:272)h the(cid:455) are i(cid:374)je(cid:272)ted (cid:449)ith drugs, brainwashed and outfitted with cybernetic parts. Brainwashed girls have no recollection of their true past and are paired up with young men who act as their guardian. Though it may not be explicit, these girls with blank slates are being molded and in a way, seduced by these young men. We (cid:272)a(cid:374) see this (cid:449)ith he(cid:374)rietta a(cid:374)d giuseppe(cid:859)s relatio(cid:374)ship. For example, from page 32 to 38 of chapter 1, giuseppe invites henrietta to go stargazing on the roof. Henrietta embraces the coat the giuseppe gives her and throughout this scene we see.
