Exam layout image based + typical mc. Anatomical position important because different position(e. g. lying, standing, upside down) changes the relationship. Need a standard anatomical position: sagittal vertical plane cuts ventral to dorsal. Ap = palms out*, feet forward, standing up. > midsagittal plane divides into equal halves. > parasagittal planes parallel to the ms plane: frontal vertical plane, divides front from back, transverse cuts separate upper and lower body. Lateral further from midline (e. g cheek is medial to ear, lateral to eye. ) Back of (e. g. heart is posterior to sternum, anterior to the spine) Tp (aka horizontal plane) superior + inferior. Proximal closer to root of structure, distal- further from root of structure. Plantar vs dorsum (foot) trick: turn your hand into food to determine which side of foot you"re referring to. Extension increase angle between body parts (e. g. shoulder up flexion) Abduction move away from axis (axis of the body is the midsagittal plane)
