As we go down the group of halogens, the london (dispersion) forces increase because the size of the molecules and therefore polarizability increases. Explain how this is a result of hydrogen bonding in solid water. When ice freezes, the hydrogen bonds between each water molecule will expand/space out and solidify with the water molecules. This allows for more space between the water molecules, i. e. water expands when it is frozen.
