Everyone"s perception of the world is di erent. In guring out why someone does something, their perception should be considered, not the world"s reality . The perceiver: (values, judgements, expectations, attitudes, motives, interests, exp: the target: (host of an event, loud people, hot chicks. Closeness, background: the situation: (the context we see an event, time, location, light, heat) Perceptual errors: people generalize and classify. Halo e ect: drawing a conclusion and a general impression on basis of a single characteristic. Contrast e ect: reaction to one person often in uenced by other recently seen people. Stereotyping: judging someone on basis of group they belong to, not just bad. Prejudice: negative preconceived opinions that is not based on reason or actual experience. Mmpi (minnesota multiphasic personality inventory): clinical and most common. Mbti (myers- briggs type indicator): rational judging and irrational perceiving. Machiavellian: degree to which an individual is pragmatic, maintain emotional distance, and believes that ends can justify means.
