ENGL 112 Lecture 13: Final Exam Tips

Make sure you finish your essay, otherwise you will lose marks. One body should be on reason, other two are up to you. Identify the statement, provide context (quote it or some other way), and evaluate the effectiveness. Create an outline highlighting all the important points. Group similar ideas together and always follow your own outline. Always refer back to the topic sentence to stay on track. Leave time for proof reading since it is quality over quantity! There will be 2 options, you write on one. 2-3 main claims including refutations (counter argument and rebuttals) and call to action (provoke audience to do an action or even provoking them to think can work) Rely on analogies, hypothetical and anecdotal examples since not given evidence (appeal to reason will be weak)
