That is why this area is considered a world class mining region. Mineralization was appreciated during construction of cpr in 1883 and mining began shortly after. Mineral deposits can be found everywhere of sudbury structure, but specific deposit types are found in specific areas: ni-cu-pge deposits are found at bottom of sic within footwall. Platinum market went into deficit in 2012 because of a fall in supplies from south africa. Industrial demand was affected because of the glass and electrical sectors. Only jewellery trade in china bought platinum.
