Microphones are useful to record sounds for film. Sound is more important than video, in a way. Sometimes the sound can go from microphone to camera. Typically mounted on a boom pole or mic stand. Point it towards the sound source, rejects all other sounds. It is small to hide it on people. Requires in order to use shotgun or lav mics. Has a stereo mic attached to the top. Boom pole- used to position mic close to sound source. Wind screen (dead cat) - helps to mitigate wind noise. Recording levels - no higher than -12 to -6db. Make sure rec light is solid red in order to record. A 3. 5mm audio splitter cord can be used to split the signal from the zoom recorder. always use a wind screen when recording outdoors. Be weary of rubbing noise when using lav mics. Be wary of handling noise when using a boom mic.
