Document Summary

There have been predicions that greenhouse gases are afecing the world. We can look at the ice to determine the changes in the climate. Whenever co2 is high, temperature is high. Fact 2: greenhouse gases have increased due to human acivity. Small dips throughout, due to plants respiring, so reduce in co2 levels. Co2 concentraions have increased since the mid-1800s due to fossil fuel use (~75-80%) Not all of the co2 from fossil fuel burning stays in the atmosphere: some are just taken by plants. 800 billion tons of carbon: land: 2 billion tons/yr, ocean: 3 billion tons/yr. Today: ~4 billion tons of carbon or 15 billion tons of co2 are being added to the atmosphere each year, =~2 parts per million(ppm) Some of the co2 will stay for a long ime. The atmosphere is just the ime of the iceberg of warning.
