Divergent: Creation of lithosphere, symmetrical
Convergent: Destruction of lithosphere, Asymmetrical
The plate that subducts must be denser than the plate that is above and than the asthenosphere.
There are oceanic and continental plates.
3 types of potential contacts

You can have continents older than one billion years and oceans younger than 180,000 years

Subduction cannot stand for long in this case as the material is light than the asthenosphere and so y
