Document Summary

The theory of the greater east asia co-prosperity sphere. Japan"s attempt to conquer asia was done through a thing called the greater east asia co- Prosperity sphere and in order to build support for this idea, japan"s leaders tried to promote this message of pan-asianism. Pan asianism: based upon the premise that despite all of their respective national differences, Asians nonetheless shared a common culture and a common set of values that distinguished them and set them apart from western countries + cultures. All across asia and all across its diversity, pan-asianism still nonetheless determined a common set of asian values which distinguished asia from the west. According to this view, japan was the one country in asia that had achieved the proper blend, or ideal mix, of western science and asian values. This could therefore serve as a model, tutor, or teacher, for the rest of asia.
