Bacterial Pathogenesis Lec 1 • Spontaneous generation from miasma=disproved o A sterile sample contained in a RB flask with a twisted neck prevented bacterial growth. Means bacteria couldn’t get through. Means spontaneous generation doesn’t happen • Koch’s Postulate o Organisms isolated from infected organism can be inoculated into another organism to display same disease signs. The same pathogen can be isolated from this secondary organism. • What is bacteria o Single celled prokaryotes o Categorized microscopically  Gram positive/negative  Shape  Disease associated  Reactions with specific antibodies
