Rhythmic (3 short notes, one long note) theme seen throughout work primary melodic but this is also melodic. The first theme (the motive) is heard throughout the entire symphony (appearing in different movements that never did before) integrating the motive in all four movements, beethoven made symphony more cohesive, interconnected, and dramatic. Exposition motive all around and rthymetic energy/momentum. Closes in a major key putting idea in your head that we will return . Oboe solo a pause of the energy oboe player has freedom to make it as long as they want during that part there were in minor key but closes in a major key.
