In this module we will examine the ethical considerations at play regarding the impact of business activities on the natural environment. The first section discusses fundamental issues in environmental ethics, including the nature of our moral obligations regarding our natural environment. The second section discusses who is responsible for making ethical decisions about the environment, and how it is that such decisions get made. You will be reading 2 articles and 2 case studies from the textbook. There will be a number of questions to help you evaluate your own understanding of the materials. You will also have an opportunity to take part in a discussion forum based on your reading. At the end of section 1, you should be able to: describe the differences between a human-centred and a nature-centred view of environmental ethics, explain the policy significance of an ecosystem approach to environmental protection.
