Lecture #12 - October 1, 2012 October-01-12 11:00 AM SLIDE #4 • FPOT: frontal, parietal, occipital, temporal • Left and right of each lobe, symmetry between the two halves • Frontal Lobe: speech production, movement, higher order function (reasoning, thinking, complex) • Parietal Lobe: attention, contains the map on the body (touch map) • Occipital Lobe: vision (visual processing), colour, movement etc. • Temporal Lobe: hearing, language comprehension, memory (creating, storing memories) SLIDE #5 • Hand and face have more dedicated brain space than other parts of the body ○ Located in the motor cortex • Somatosensory cortex: map responsible for touch ○ More space, the more sensitive a person is SLIDE #8 • White matter: the information highways of the brain SLIDE #9 • Thalamus: sensory relay station
