PSYC 302 Lecture Notes - Feedback, How Do You Know
Document Summary
Almost all babies are distressed when mom leaves the room; the difference is when mom comes back. Securely attached: use mom as a secure base; when she comes back their security level is fine again. They are unset when mom leaves the room and are more clingy when mom is in the room. React differently every time mom leaves (attached one day, avoidant the next) Perhaps it"s nature: children cause attachment styles and parental behavior. Feedback loop: child is inconsolable and you spend all of your time trying to make your infant feel better and they don"t; you learn that there is nothing you can do and parental behaviour changes.
