Document Summary
Personality is the set of psychological traits and mechanisms within the individual that is organized and relatively enduring and that in uences his or her interactions with, and adaptions to, the environment (including the intrapsychic, physical, and social environment). Spearman (1904): two-factor model of intelligence. g= general ability s= speci c abilities related to speci c mental operations. Thurston (1938): capacity for abstraction, including verbal comprehension, spatial visualization, associative memory, reasoning ,perceptual speed etc. David wechsler (1944): the aggregate or global capacity of the individual to act purposefully, to think rationally and to deal effectively with his environment. Howard gardner (1983): theory of multiple intelligences: linguistic intelligence, logical-mathematical intelligence, spatial intelligence, musical intelligence. The debate surrounding the organization and classi cation of mental abilities is similar to that seen in personality research. E. g. , five factor model of personality (the big five") vs. hexaco model (adds a 6th factor).
