Document Summary

[picture of margaret thatcher] - upside down less attractive than upright photo. Blocked to save you from your own nightmares. When we have to deal with pictures upside down, we"re terrible at it. Whether our cultural experiences impact the way we see the world. Sensation: sensory signals reaching the detectors in our bodies, reaching our brain (e. g. light waves hitting retina, sound waves hitting ear drum). Perception: process by which the brain selects, organizes and interprets the sensory information that it receives from the sense of organs. Perception of faces; what happens when we see a face is simply that we have the face and the lightwaves that hit our eyes, turn into signals and then hits the brain. The brain reinterprets what these signals mean and what they"re suppose to look like. Internal representation: sometimes accurate but sometimes not. This interpretation process relies on our past experiences.
