Studies indicate that these pre attack signals are present in 60% of public figures. Risk assessment: prediction that a given individual will act in a certain way in the future, after release from prison. Specific decision of whether or not they are safe to be released. True positives: predict that they will be violent, and they do become violent. Risk prediction scheme: look at percentage correct/precentage incorrect. Baserate problem: what is the target behaiour that we are tryign to predict baserate is very low. If baserate behaviour is rare, eg spousal homicide, problem is that.
