Document Summary

All processes that involve the assessment of value. Evolution of emotions: darwin, example: dogs, establishment of dominance, emotional display show willingness to act, biological adaptive, because fights are costly. Most emotions elicit biological responses so quite consistent. James lange theory: physiological response comes before emotion, physiological response triggers emotional response. Study: said study was about hypertension: electric discharge, but said machine was malfunctioning, other - technician insulted them. Found that anger and fear can be differentiated by change in diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, skin conductance changes, muscle tension, respiratory rate. Autonomic responses to relived emotions: professional actors asked to, relive emotions, create emotional expressions step-by-step. Found that fear and anger can be differentiated as well as other emotions like happiness, surprise, etc: reliving and creating emotions don"t seem to be different, as same biological responses are elicited in both of them. So faking it, can indeed make one feel the same feelings as those who relive an experience.
