Gender matters because they are expected to dress like men in factories, but when they were out and about (socially), they get questioned for wearing men clothes. Legalizing legal marriage we want people who have same genders to be able to have legal right to get married. Have access to divorce, estate, same as people who are heterosexually married. The energy women put into organizing shifted in different roles and institutions. Conceptual shift 2: interrogating gender (and revealing complexity. Provides a vantage point of critique among multiple vantage points. Socially constructed actively and in fluid and diverse ways. Foundational in social roles and institutions but also dynamic, multi-layered and relational to diverse contexts.
