Hegemony: the domination and acceptance of key ideologies that benefit a particular group in society. Made no progress on wealth like we have on other things. Can"t do it with force police, courts etc. If you want to maintain a position of privilege in your society, you have to do it through culture and cultural values, make people believe what they are doing is right, correct. Another way to see hegemony consensus backed up with the threat of force. Those values that collect the conscious is the best way to go. Hierarchies your mark on a test vs someone else. Religiosity enforce the ideas that things are natural. Self-worth the amount of money you make. These are perpetuated through the everyday use of language and behavior.
