Document Summary

All cultures have a lot of words used to express emotion. Linguistic relativity hypothesis language influences thought. Inuit"s have 200 plus words to describe snow. Their thoughts are more in depth as english only has one word for snow. Emotions have a good" and bad" quality that we remember. Ex: an old movie we watched 10 years ago, we can say what we liked and disliked but may miss out details, the same applies to life. Many events like a job promotion cause mixed emotions" because it is good as you will be paid more but it is bad as you have more responsibility. A specific event like a speech may be threatening to one person but exciting to another. Emotions activate the sympathetic nervous system (sns) When activated, eye pupils are dilated, relaxed bronchi, accelerated or strengthened heartbeat, inhibits activity, contracts vessels, increases air, blood to the muscles, and blood pressure.
