The authors of this article explore the four classifications of Cybercrime and what they
consist of. Cyber-Trespass, Cyber-Deception/Theft, Cyber-Porn/Obscenity and Cyberviolence
are the four classes that compose the term cybercrime. Cyber-Trespass is the most ‘grey’ form of
cybercrime under the term; it involves a computer hacker crossing invisible lines of another’s
life. This includes a hacker accessing networks and systems of others. Cyber-Deception is one of
the most common forms of cybercrime in today’s society. This form of crime consists of an
individual using the internet as a means of gaining information, generally posing as another
entity. An example of this would be fraudulent emails claiming to be PayPal asking for funds.
Cyber-Porn is most commonly represented by revenge porn. Revenge porn is when an
individual, usually an ex-boyfriend/ex-girlfriend, posts nude photos of another in hopes of
obtaining revenge for a wrong-doing. The fourth form of cybercrime is one that is causing issues
all around the world, Cyberviolence. The use of electronic means to harass and harm individuals
is causing real-world violence as consequences.
