Jan 22 , 2014 TH C ONT .  OF  J AN  15 ­ Taking digital vs traditional photographs ­ Crime scene photographers take a picture of the entire scene and can blow up or ‘enhance’ certain parts ­ Preserving physical evidence can connect evidence to a pertain of interest with the crime, and the scene is protected  by every member who attends the scene or handles the evidence after it is seized SOCO  OFFICER  HAS  TO ­  protect the scene from any further contamination ­ Nicknames firefighters ‘evidence eradicators’ because they usually arrive first and their large suits may disrupt  evidence. ­ Consult with complainant,  witnesses, police at scene regarding their perception of the incident ­ They can identify points of entry and/or exit ­ Murder weapons ­ Locate all impression evidence ( when something touches something else) ­ Tire impressions ­ Footwear impressions ­ Tool impressions ­ Fingerprint impressions ­ Photographic evidence ­ Sketch of impressions ­ Note location and details of evidence ­ Collect evidence and ensure that it is labeled/tagged and preserved in an appropriate container ▯ paper bags are to be   used for evidence that is being submitted ­ Prior to using fingerprint powder, some consideration should be given to the
