Can be approached from 2 aspects of human behaviour: psychological dependence and physical dependence: psychological dependence drugs that are pain relievers. Conditioned use of a drug cause by underlying emotional needs, characterizes all types of drug use. Emotional factors play a part in drug dependence. Generalization is a bad idea, because someone drinks doesn"t mean they will smoke: physical dependence the physiological need for a drug that has been brought about by its regular use. The dose of drug use is important, certain drugs can lead to severe physical illness if discontinued. Some withdrawal sickness involves: sweating, chill, nausea and vomiting, insomnia, tremors, paranoia, pain and cramps. Withdrawal sickness is the cause of psychical dependence. Analgesics they relieve pain by a depressing action on the central nervous system.
