Data warehousing is a datas store (i. e. database of some sort) and a process for bringing together disparate data from throughout an organization for decision-support purposes. Enterprise relational database management systems (rdbms), such as oracle, db2, Sql server are often used for data warehousing. A process that extracts information from internal and external datable, transforms the information using a common set of enterprise de nitions, and loads the information into a data warehouse. Contains summarized or highly focused portion of data for a speci ed business unit or group of users. Contains a snapshot of operational data for speci c business contexts. Creation of a data mart is predicated on a speci c, prede ned need for a certain grouping and con guration of select data. Allows users to analyze large volumes of data and present the same data in di erent ways. Each aspect of information represents a dimension (i. e. pricing, region, time period)
