ADM 3333 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Internal Consistency, Meta-Analysis, Face Validity
Document Summary
Chapter 2 : foundations of recruitment and selection i: reliability and validity. Ksaos: the knowledge, skills, abilities and other attributes necessary for a new incumbent to do well on the job; also referred to as a job employment, or worker specifications. Reliability: the degree to which observed scores are free from random measurement errors. Reliability is an indication of the dependability or stability of a set of measurements over repeated applications of the measurement procedure. Measurement error: the hypothetical difference between an observed score and a true score;comprises both random error and systematic error. Factors affecting reliability: temporary individual characteristics, ex: poor performance on an exam one time because of factors such as health, motivation, fatigue, emotional state, etc. Lack of standardization: ex: 2 candidates being interviewed for the same position in different settings, with different amounts of time to answer each question.
