Hepatic functions with metabolism liver conducts over 500 metabolic functions (one of most biochemically complex organs in the body) processes nearly every class of nutrients and plays a maor role in regualitons of plasma cholesterol levels. Primary purpose is to transport excess cholesterol from peripheral tissues to the liver where it is broken down (bile: deliver cholesterol to some tissues (ovaries, adrenals) for use in steroid hormone synthesis.
