Depends on the resilience and strength and directionality of perturbations. Eg the ass of spruce-fir forest and insect outbreaks. Low budworm kept down because of predation --> Forest gets thicker, harder to prey on budworm, pop increases --> See the temperature change and how it affects the great barrier reef. A warm summer made the kelp forest die and seaweed turf go up. Predicted that it was out of the kelp forest adaptive limit.
