Thorazine: first efecive treatment for schizophrenia 1952 thorazine, 25% achieved remission, side efects similar to parkinson"s disease. Grimacing, dyskenisia (sick tongue out), lip smacking. Theory that high dopamine levels cause schizophrenia: thorazine lowers dopaime amounts in the brain, reduces psychosis of schizophrenia, amphetamines raise dopamine amounts in the brain, produce psychosis similar to schizophrenia.
