Baltic (sea not near the mediterranean) amber had connections at this sea (maybe. Fossilized resin from coniferous trees = amber (i. e. bugs stuck on the amber). They made jewelry out of the baltic amber. Lapis lazuli (from afghanistan):- egyptians loved this; made ultramarine pigments (for figures like angels/mary, etc) Stone vessels (egypt):- had to drill to hollow these out; expensive; rare in greece (imitated in ceramics) Copper and tin (cyprus, afghanistan, turkey):- can"t make bronze without tin (which came from afghanistan). Oxhide ingot heavy (weighs the same, so maybe it"s used to measure tin?). Cyprus, on the other hand, was a main source of copper. Elephant tusks were larger and was used to laminate (peeled off). They used it to make egyptian head rests, lids for boxes pixis. We see greek tombs carrying egyptian items. We know of 2 shipwrecks (which carried high value goods). This was a good indication of the status of the person who owned the ships.
