Leadership: the use of positive interpersonal influence to help a group attain a goal. Who have you known as a good leader in groups? (listening, embodiment, honesty) You are not exhibiting leadership if others are not following. Being appointed to a position does not mean that others will follow. Interdependence and the presence of a clear goal causes leadership needs to surface. Leadership can be provided by various people. Leadership can be seen in any action that exerts a significant influence on the group (including cracking jokes) How we view leadership (our definition of it) defines the group. Female leaders tend to take a more democratic approach. We expect the leaders to encourage participation by others. We expect the leader to keep the group organized by talking about procedures, summarizing discussion, and facilitating group discussion. We expect that the leader will work to maintain harmony. We expect the leader to play devil"s advocate and critical advisor.
