The Gate Keeper:
The gate keeper, the person who selects what’s kept, opens the gate closes the gate
It is a critical approach
Media are not neutral – media doesn’t transmit information without changed it
necessity to question “interest” served by the media and flow of certain messages
power is achieved at the level of choice and decision making.

Who is Mr. Gates? He works in a medium size, American Midwest newspaper as a desk editor
conservative , 40 yrs, and has 25 yrs of experience in journalism.
Question: how does the selection process happen? Is it personal preference or according professional
rules or a mix of the two?
